FAQ

1. What makes Tutoring by Teachers UK different?

At Tutoring by Teachers UK, confidence is at the heart of everything we do. We create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where children feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Our fully qualified, highly experienced, local to Bromley teachers bring years of classroom experience, combining their expertise with a personalised approach to meet each child’s needs. Whether your child is catching up, staying on track, or preparing for the 11+, we focus on fostering self-belief and building skills that go far beyond the classroom.

With a tailored curriculum, thorough progress tracking, and clear communication with parents, we ensure every child feels confident, capable, and excited to learn.

2. What types of services do you offer?

We provide three key services to support children at all stages of their learning journey:

  • Catch Up and Stay on Track: Perfect for children from Year 1 onwards, these sessions help close learning gaps, build confidence, and ensure your child keeps up with the curriculum in core subjects like English and Maths.
  • Assessments: A one-on-one academic assessment session with a qualified teacher to identify where your child is against the national curriculum. This includes detailed feedback and strategies for improvement.
  • 11+ Preparation: Starting as early as Year 3, we provide a structured programme to gradually build the skills and resilience needed for the 11+ exams, including mock exams, homework, and personalised feedback.

3. What age groups do you cater to?

We cater to a wide range of ages:

  • Catch Up and Stay on Track: From Year 1 onwards, these sessions provide foundational support in core subjects.
  • 11+ Preparation: Starting in Year 3, we help children build confidence and skills at their own pace to ensure they’re fully prepared for entrance exams.

4. Where are your venues located?

We operate at two convenient locations:

  • St Patrick’s Hall, Chislehurst: Sessions every Thursday.
  • Hayes Free Church, Hayes: Sessions every Tuesday.

Both venues offer the same high standards of teaching, care, and safeguarding.

5. How do your ‘Catch Up and Stay on Track’ sessions work?

These sessions provide hands-on, practical learning tailored to your child’s needs. Using a Montessori-inspired approach, we focus on building confidence and addressing gaps in core subjects like English and Maths.

We provide:

  • Regular updates through feedback books.
  • Termly Individual Tuition Action Plans (ITAPs).
  • Live progress updates via WhatsApp groups, keeping you informed and involved.

Our goal is to help children feel proud of their progress while developing essential skills to stay on track with the curriculum.

6. What happens in an assessment session?

Assessments are an optional, one-hour session with a qualified teacher designed to:

  • Identify your child’s academic level against the national curriculum.
  • Provide detailed feedback, including strengths, areas for improvement, and actionable next steps.

For 11+ students, assessments include percentage scores and personalised strategies to target key areas for success.

7. How is payment handled?

Payment is made monthly in advance to secure your child’s place via invoicing. This ensures consistency in learning and allows us to provide high-quality, uninterrupted teaching. If you have questions about payment, feel free to contact us for more information.

8. How do you keep parents informed about progress?

We keep communication clear, consistent, and supportive. Here’s how:

  • WhatsApp Groups: Mini groups where we share live updates, session photos, and progress feedback.
  • ITAPs: Individual Tuition Action Plans to outline your child’s development and next steps.

You’ll always have access to a teacher to discuss your child’s progress or any concerns.

9. What safety measures are in place?

Your child’s safety is our top priority. All our teachers are:

  • DBS-checked.
  • First-aid trained.
  • Trained to provide a safe, nurturing environment that allows children to focus on learning without stress.

Both venues adhere to strict safeguarding standards, giving you peace of mind while your child learns and grows.
