Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What makes Tutoring by Teachers UK different?
At Tutoring by Teachers UK, we prioritise a nurturing, calm, and friendly atmosphere where children can thrive. We believe that children learn best when they feel relaxed, safe, and valued by the adults around them. Our fully qualified teachers, who are still actively teaching in schools, create a supportive environment that fosters confidence and growth. With a bespoke curriculum, thorough progress tracking, and personalised feedback, we ensure that every child excels beyond national standards while enjoying the learning process.
2. Where are your venues located?
We currently operate at two venues:
- St Patrick's Hall, Chislehurst – Sessions run every Thursday.
- Hayes Free Church, Hayes – A new venue opening on 5th November 2024, with sessions every Tuesday. Both venues offer the same high standards of teaching, safeguarding, care, and expertise.
3. What age groups do you cater to?
We primarily cater to children preparing for the 11+, focusing on Years 4 and 5. We also offer academic support and catch-up sessions for younger children in key subjects like English and Maths.
4. What does your 11+ preparation involve?
Our 11+ programme is thorough and well-structured. Year 4 students receive weekly homework and detailed feedback, while Year 5 students take 18 mock tests per subject across the year. We provide in-depth feedback, percentage scores, and targeted homework to ensure your child is fully prepared for their exams.
5. What are your ‘Catch Up and Stay on Track’ sessions?
Our "Catch Up and Stay on Track" sessions offer a practical, Montessori-inspired approach to learning. These sessions are tailored to help children catch up or stay ahead in core subjects. We provide regular feedback through feedback books and termly Individual Tuition Action Plans (ITAPs). Parents also receive live updates via WhatsApp groups, making communication and progress tracking seamless.
6. How do your assessment sessions work?
We offer one-hour, one-on-one academic assessment sessions with qualified teachers. These sessions assess a child’s current academic level and provide personalised strategies for improvement. For 11+ students, we deliver percentage scores across different strands, along with actionable next steps.
7. How is payment handled?
Payment is made monthly in advance. This ensures your child's place is secured and allows for consistent learning with no interruptions. If you have any questions about payments, feel free to contact us for more details.
8. How do you keep parents informed about their child's progress?
We use mini WhatsApp groups to keep communication live, up-to-date, and thorough. These groups are used to share real-time feedback, session photos, and progress updates. You’ll always have a teacher on hand to answer questions and provide support.
9. What safety measures are in place?
Safeguarding is a top priority for us. All our teachers have thorough, up-to-date DBS checks and first aid training. Both of our venues adhere to strict safety standards, providing a secure, nurturing environment where children can focus on learning and parents can have peace of mind.
10. How do I enrol my child?
You can contact us through our website or by phone to discuss your child’s needs. We’ll guide you through the enrolment process and help you find the best programme for your child.
