4:15 PM – Setting the Scene
We swoop in, setting up like educational ninjas. Tables are ready, chairs in place, and those all-important feedback books are neatly stacked. Oranges? Check! Biscuits? Ready for their moment. Sand trays, playdough, and shiny new stationery are arranged like it’s a pop-up art gallery. We’re ready to roll!
4:30 PM – The Mini-Tornadoes Arrive
The doors swing open and the kids rush in with the kind of energy only 9-year-olds can muster. Friends reunite, new friendships are made within seconds and it’s not long before the pens are out, glittery and rainbow-colored, obviously. The excitement is contagious—we’re barely 10 minutes in, and they’re already buzzing about what they’re going to conquer today.
4:40 PM – Learning Mode Activated ποΈ
With a sparkly pen in one hand and a biscuit countdown in the back of their minds, the learning begins! Tasks are tackled, questions are fired and answers are flying. The kids are in the zone—speedy, confident, and already competing to see who can solve the toughest problem the fastest. Teachers are bouncing from student to student like academic superheroes, keeping the energy high and the progress steady.
5:00 PM – Biscuit Break! πͺ
The moment they’ve all been waiting for... biscuits! To the bar to check out the selection, served with a side of educational encouragement. A crunchy break to refuel and the chatter picks up. Which one is the ultimate snack? But no time to linger—it’s back to business in no time.
5:10 PM – Back to the Grind
Biscuit-fuelled and ready to return, the kids dive back into their work. This time, they’re even quicker: more focused and still laughing about the biscuit debate. For some, it’s time for playdough models and sand trays to reinforce what they’ve learned. Hands-on activities are in full swing and the room hums with energy, learning, and just the right amount of mischief.
5:30 PM – Swap Time
One group leaves (with feedback books in hand), while the next group streams in like they’ve been waiting outside, eyes locked on the stationary stash. It’s a smooth switch, with a fresh round of hellos and... yes, more biscuits! πͺ But now, we’re warming up for another hour of hard work. And the parents? They’re getting a quick run-down of what just went down, along with some homework for their child to tackle at home.
5:40 PM – Oranges & Onward π
Out come the oranges for the next crew. There’s a science to this—vitamin C and brainpower go hand in hand. The kids dive into their next challenge, peeling oranges like pros, minds racing through maths problems and English comprehension. These kids are powering through: confident and fast, eager to show off their progress.
6:00 PM – Focus Mode
Playdough and sand trays are tucked away—it’s serious learning time now. The energy has shifted slightly; there’s still fun, but the kids are locking into their tasks with determination. Whether it’s practice questions for the 11+ or tackling tricky SATs prep, the focus is sharp, and we teachers are guiding them through each hurdle.
6:20 PM – Feedback & Homework Time
As we approach the end of the session, the feedback books come out, filled with notes on progress and next steps. Parents gather, and we give them the lowdown: what their child smashed through today, what they can work on, and what’s coming up next. Homework is handed out like little missions to complete before the next session. The kids look proud, and the parents? Relieved they’re in good hands!
6:30 PM – Home Time
The kids leave with tired but happy smiles, homework in hand and a real sense of accomplishment. Another successful, biscuit-filled, orange-fuelled, educational evening in the bag. Relationships have grown stronger, confidence is higher, and progress is undeniable. We close up shop, ready to do it all again next week! πͺππ
